"That's a BOLD statement MontegoMan!"
Ok let me explain. This is between the Lincoln Navigator, GMC Yukon Denali and Cadillac Escalade (despite the GMC and Caddy being complete twins)
First let's throw out exterior style. I like it, a lot. Most of you don't. That's fine.
Interior setup:
Did you know that out of those 3 listed the Navigator is the only one with a 2nd row console between the 2nd row captain chairs? I think it's cool and it's optional so if people don't like it it doesn't have to be there.
(Yes I prefer that interior in Black, looks a lot better, pic was only available in Dune)
Exterior Colors:
Did you know the Navigator is the only one available in Blue?
I mean if you really want giant purple SUV's GM's got you covered.
Speaking of exteriors, I really love how "dark" the details can be on the Navigator vs the Escalade/Yukon. I mean we've known for years GM's go to is CHROME, but the Navigator has optional dark wheels for a LOT less money and the trim is already darker.
And somehow these 20" dark finish wheels are only a $495 option on the Navigator. Badass. GMC? Only Black wheels are 22" and cost $2,995. I'll disappointingly pass. (Not available on Caddy, at least in base trim)
While we're on the topic of costs, I tried to build them all as similar as possible. Options I added (which I think would be pretty typical of most buyers) AV system for the back seats, 4x4, Power Moonroof, and changed it do the captains chairs instead of a bench if it needed to be selected.
Lincoln: $68,725 (With a 1,250 incentive)
GMC: $70,720
Cadillac: $77,560
Oh and heres the HP/Torque/Towing for the 3 of them in normal length in 4x4(not extended length) and fuel economy
Lincoln: 3.5L TT V6 380/460/8,700 15/20
GMC: 6.2L V8 420/460/8100 MPG: 15/21
Cadillac: 6.2L V8 420/460/8100 MPG: 15/21
These stats tell me if you care about towing - Look to the Lincoln
OK so this is only a couple pieces of the puzzle. And frankly the tail lights on the Caddy are ALL KINDS OF COOL. Also, I know I said at the beginning that I wouldn't bring style into it - and I did. Maybe I don't like rules, haha, but I do like black wheels and blue paint. And yes I know a pile of you will go "I don't care about all that stuff it's still a Lincoln and Lincoln's suck", Oh well, to each their own.
I was actually most surprised by the price. I know I didn't load these guys up, but I'm pretty sure I can option an F-150 over the price of the Navigator I just built.
Just thought it was an interesting comparison between the 3 American Big Luxury SUV's. Still surprised about the rear center console thing...

And the best part? I can use the body panels from a 1999 or 2004 as replacement parts, because Ford has tricked people into buying the same SUV for the last decade and a half!

Personally I like the headlights on the new Cadillac, but I'm surprised that the Navigator doesn't get a better EPA highway MPG rating. 1 MPG is hardly worth choosing the GM products over, but why can't the Ecoboost be more Eco?

Re: towing - a rating of 8100 or 8700 isn't that big of a deal, but the extra power of the 6.2 AND better economy? Gives the towing stat to the GM IMO.
I know they beat the snot out of the TTV6 for testing and all that, but I'm still worried about the long term effects of real world towing with two less bearings to carry the load. I know the crank bearings on the B6 are beefy and all that, but still... I see a lot of complaints about that Ecoboost and towing.
Not that I'm in the 'real market' for a truck anytime soon, but all interesting stuff to mull over.
The older GMs had a fold-out console in the rear seat, I prefer that because it leaves the option to fold it up and have someone sit there. Not sure how they do it on the new ones.

It's fugly. it's an expedition, which has been on the road for god knows how long, And it ripped off the Durango ass end. It's lazy band-aid badge engineering.
I drove a pre-facelift model and it was one of the worst vehicles i have ever driven. Yes, Ever. It felt like it would tip over and the suspension was so soft that it made it uncontrollable.
The 6.2 V8 motor is FAR superior to the Ecoboost for truck/SUV duty. Show me Fuel economy while towing. In the full size trucks, while towing, the traditional engine combo's still won out. Under boost that 3.5l is a 7.0+l

Maybe because it was designed for a performance application in a Taurus and has been used in 23,984,765,238,745 other applications instead? lol
I agree though, it should be at 25, if you're going to be the only one with a V6 it better be worth the lack of cylinders (and horsepower)

But then you'd have to look at this pile everyday.
Putting some fancy gauges and a newer touch screen in a decade old interior doesn't make it new.

Fascinating about the console. And you have valid points! I agree it's not a huge advantage in towing, though I'd be more comfortable towing something 7500 pounds with an 8700 pound capacity than a 8100.
I hear they do better in the mountains, i have no data for this, nor any mountains near me lol

Who cares about the towing fuel economy, the 6.2 wins without load on the highway LOL
It's a great motor. Honestly it was a crappy review, it came down to features in and outside the vehicle that I liked on the Lincoln and price.
It's also (as I'm sure you know) a complete arm chair review without seat time in either. Which is why I didn't mark it as a true comparison.

C&D recently did a comparo with these two and they liked the grunt of the 3.5 EB better, but it returned worse mileage than the GM ecotec

I wonder which one gets better towing MPG with a non-aerodynamic 5,000 lb trailer?
I found that pulling a flat car trailer with car behind my old Yukon XL (3/4 ton, 8.1 V8) with a car on it changed my highway mileage from 13-14 to 10-11. Pulling a 26' Travel Trailer (same weight, more wind resistance) dropped the MPG to about 7. That's where a diesel shines...
Not that any of these trucks are "Serious tow rigs" anyway, I would only tow occasionally with them. I still prefer a long wheelbase for towing my car trailer.

Because Brake specific Fuel Consumption. Something many people seem to forget/know nothing about when they wax poetic about the efficiency of a smaller, turbocharged motor of equal power to a naturally aspirated larger motor in a relatively heavy vehicle....

np, it should also be noted that the new 2015 f150 had similar mileage performance shortfalls against the big 6.2 8 speed combo in the new silverado, for comparison sake.

I love the ecoboost 6's for cars perhaps a 4.0 EB V8 or straight 6 would be good for trucks, they just need a little extra displacement

The Lincoln does not look like a hearse, has less chrome, and has an extremely tuneable engine. Inb4 Hennessey, a tune intake and exhaust will do more for an Ecoboost than adding double that (price wise) to an LS/LT.

I wouldn't complain about that at all, I think it would be great.
Now if they could get the MPG they wanted out of that little 2.7L in the F150 it would be perfect for people who buy pickups for commuting and not working.

I hear the ecoboost gets horrendous towing mileage, but is a tad better at actually towing when in the mountains (like I said).
I'm guessing the 6.2 would get better, if anything because it gets better mileage without towing and doesn't have to work as hard.
Sweet Trav

that's why ALL "commuter" trucks quarter ton and up should have 55mph speed governors and small displacement 4/6 cylinder turbo diesels.
If you want a tow vehicle, you should have to get a special license and pay a gas guzzler tax.
In my opinion the government should be limiting the amount of full size trucks on the road.

Right, and the point of the Ecoboost motors is that when you are NOT towing you get the economy of a V6... considering most of these trucks spend their miles not towing it's probably fine.

yea but the problem of the Ecoboost in the navi is that it gets worse MPG than the 6.2L when not even towing.

Ford > GM
Lincoln > Caddy.
All the people complain that the Lincoln is a 10 year old design which is partially true but if it ain't broke why fucking fix it?
All the reviews I've seen for the 2015 Navigator & Expedition have been surprisingly positive. So I'd be willing to agree with you 100%
All I know is if it was me spending that money it would be for the Lincoln. It's so good looking especially in white with the black wheels. I took a potato pick of this one the other day.

I don't know how Lincoln is selling any of these without black wheels.
a $495 upgrade to drastically better wheels is insanely cheap when you're talking about 20" factory wheels.
that's about 124 per wheel.
